The Glengoffe C.D.C. started in 1995 with the Social Development Commission.

The Glengoffe C.D.C Vision Statement:- A Glengoffe Community that caters to the social, economic and physical development.

The Glengoffe C.D.C Mission Statement:- To mobilize and empower residents of the Glengoffe Community resulting in the improvement of citizens ability to contribute to their own personal development as well as the development of the community.

Glengoffe is a rural community situated in North East St. Catherine. The population is estimated at 5,500 with some 1,300 houses. Glengoffe is located 25 miles from Spanish Town which is the parish capital and 16 miles from Linstead, a major Town.

Glengoffe consists of 14 districts namely:- Cassava River, Mizpah, Free Town, Goffe Road, August Town, Jambos Pond, Grateful Hill, Ennis, St. Faiths, Ashley, Mt. Matthews, Mt. Conncord, Mount Florence and Glengoffe Proper.  The highest point in St. Catherine is located at Jambos Pond Approximately 3,400 feet above sea level.

There are three Primary Schools, one High School and Seven Basic Schools.  The community has several churches as Methodists, Anglicans, Catholics, Baptists, Church of God of Prophecy, Pentecostals, and Church of God.

Glengoffe has a Type II Health Centre, Police Station and a Post Office.

 

Economic  Activities

The main economic activities  within the community are farming and crafts such as wood crafts and jipi—jappa crafts.

Future Plans

It is our intention to:- build a multipurpose development Centre and playfield in order to showcase the development of Arts and Crafts and promote community Tourism through agro -processing with special interests in herbs.

To build a state of the art Basic School for the community.

To do continuous beautification project cleaning  roadways, painting walls and planting trees.
