White Marl PTA
PARENT TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
White Marl boasts a very active group. This group meets every third 3rd Wednesday at 4pm. On a more intimate level there is the Grade PTA’s, which are held as the need arises. These are held on a shift basis and are conducted by Vice Principal, senior teachers, grade co-ordinator, and class teachers or form teachers.
OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
Yearly Harvests are held at White Marl Primary & Junior High School. The school collects food items for example rice, flour and ground provision and toiletries from the students and shares this with St Monica's home for the Aged and the Dare to Care Mustard Seed children's home. Also there are students in the school community who benefit from the harvest.
The Red Cross group also visits the Home for the Aged twice per year and assist with combing of hair and does other chores around the home. At least once per year the Principals of Basic schools are invited to the school for a workday looking at the Grade 1 Inventory results.
Accommodation is made for parents who need to learn to read, utilizing the New Horizon text and suggested strategies three times per week. Parents are also requesting text on a loan system and that is encouraging their students to read as well.
